Application description:

Widely used in roofing and wall cladding (corrugated panels, gutters), automotive parts, solar panel mounting structures, agricultural equipment (grain silos, livestock housing), electrical enclosures, and industrial ventilation systems. The superior cut-edge corrosion resistance and self-healing properties make it ideal for harsh environments such as coastal areas, high humidity, and industrial pollution. Excellent for roll forming, stamping, and bending.

Production description

The process starts with cold rolled steel coil, which is degreased, pickled, and fluxed to ensure a clean surface. The coil enters a continuous galvanizing line where it is annealed in a reducing atmosphere. It is then immersed in a molten zinc-aluminum-magnesium bath (typically containing 5–11% Al and 3–6% Mg) at around 450–480°C. Air knives precisely control the coating weight (Z50–Z200). The coated strip is cooled and solidified, forming a fine, dense ternary alloy layer. Skin passing may be applied to improve flatness and surface finish. Final treatments include chromating (or chromate-free passivation), oiling, or anti-fingerprint coating as required. The coil is then trimmed, inspected for coating uniformity and adhesion, and rewound with inner diameter 508mm or 610mm. Finished coils are tested for corrosion resistance (salt spray) and mechanical properties.

Shipping Packaging

For export, ZAM coated steel coils are wrapped with VCI paper and moisture-proof polyethylene, placed on ISPM-15 certified wooden pallets or steel skids, secured with steel straps, and fitted with edge protectors and coil protectors. Labels include grade, coating composition, coating weight, dimensions, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Why Choose Us?

1.Factory Strength – Direct manufacturer with integrated pickling, cold rolling, and ZAM coating lines, ensuring full process control, consistent alloy composition, and stable supply.

2.Quality Assurance – Strict control of coating composition (Zn-Al-Mg), coating weight (Z50–Z200), and cut-edge self-healing performance; compliant with EN 10346, JIS G3323, GB/T 33241.

FAQ

1. What makes ZAM coating better than regular galvanized?
ZAM coating adds aluminum and magnesium, providing superior corrosion resistance, especially at cut edges and scratches (self-healing effect), and lasts 2–4 times longer than standard galvanized steel.

2. Can ZAM steel be welded without special precautions?
Yes, standard welding methods work well. However, avoid excessive heat input, and use zinc-compatible welding wire. Remove any residue near weld area for best results.

3. Is ZAM steel suitable for coastal environments?
Yes. With coating weight Z120 or higher, ZAM steel offers excellent resistance to salt spray, making it ideal for coastal, high-humidity, or industrial pollution areas.
