ApplicationMainly used for building structure, engineering structures such as beams, bridges, transmission towers, lifting and transport machinery.

Application description:

Widely used in building construction (main frames, columns, beams), bridges (girders, crossbeams), industrial plants, crane runways, mezzanine floors, shipbuilding, and heavy machinery supports. Also suitable for mining structures, tower frameworks, and large-span roofing. The I-shaped profile provides excellent bending strength and load distribution for structural and engineering projects.

Production description

Carbon/alloy steel billet is heated to 1150–1250°C, then hot rolled through roughing and finishing mills to form the I-shaped crosssection (web and tapered flanges). The beam is straightened, cut to length, and cooled. Surface finish as-rolled (black) or painted.

Shipping Packaging

For export, steel I-beams are bundled with interleaved separators, secured with steel straps, fitted with edge protectors, and packed on ISPM-15 pallets or steel frames. Labels include grade, size, length, quantity, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Why Choose Us?

1.Factory Strength:Direct manufacturer with hot rolling mills, straightening lines, and cutting equipment, ensuring consistent I-shaped dimensions, uniform flange width, and stable mechanical properties for sizes 100–630mm.

2.Quality Assurance:Strict control of web/flange thickness, height tolerance (±2mm), and straightness (≤0.2% of length); 100% dimensional inspection; compliant with ASTM A36, EN 10025-2, JIS G3192, GB/T 706.

3.Certifications & Reports:Mill test certificates (MTC) with each shipment; third-party inspections (SGS, BV) and mechanical property reports (yield, tensile, elongation) available upon request.

4.Customization & Service:Wide grade range (Q235B–Q390B, S235JR–S355JR, SS400, A36, A572), sizes 100×68–630×176mm, custom lengths (6–18m), surface finishes (black, painted, galvanized), and drilling/cutting with fast lead times.

5.Export Packaging:Interleaved separators + steel strapping + edge protectors + ISPM-15 pallets/steel frames + clear labeling for safe sea freight and damage-free delivery.

FAQ

1. How to store steel I-beams to prevent bending and corrosion?

Store on level, dry ground on wooden sleepers or steel racks, keep beams elevated and supported along their length to prevent sagging. Stack with separators between layers to avoid pressure marks. For long-term storage, apply rust preventive oil and keep under cover. Surface rust is common and can be removed by wire brushing before use. Do not stack heavy loads on I-beams to maintain straightness.

2. Can steel I-beams be welded or bolted easily?

Yes. I-beams are designed for structural connections. Welding (MIG, arc, submerged arc) is straightforward using standard procedures for carbon steel. Bolted connections are also common – drill holes through web or flanges as required. Always clean welding area from scale or coating. For heavy loads, use splice plates and high-strength bolts. For galvanized beams, remove zinc coating near weld zone or use proper ventilation.

3. What is the difference between standard I-beam (IPE, GB) and wide flange beam (HE, W shape)?

Standard I-beam (e.g., GB 10#–63# or IPE) has narrower flanges and tapered inner flange surfaces, lighter weight, suitable for medium spans and lighter loads. Wide flange beam (HE, W shape, H-beam) has parallel, wider flanges and heavier web, offering higher bending and torsional strength, ideal for heavy loads, tall columns, and long spans. Choose based on load capacity and structural design requirements.
